If the photographer is no longer living, the rights in the photograph are determined by the photographer's will or passed as personal property by the applicable laws of intestate succession…"

Eleanor Seagraves, grandaughter of FDR, recalls that Sara (FDR's mother) was "terrific with the third generation, with her great grandchildren. Very tolerant of all our childish idiosyncrasies. She used to read us the Sunday comics. We'd get in the big bed at Hyde Park and she read us all those silly things, Katzenjammer Kids and all those."

The daughter and granddaughter of shipowners, Alice accompanied husband Capt. Joseph Delano on the famous Black Ball packet ship "Columbia" in 1827. Author Joan Druett devotes a chapter to Alice in her 1998 book "Hen Frigates: Passion and Peril, Nineteenth-Century Women at Sea".
