The "GHAAHD"

The Genealogy, History and Alliances of The American House of Delano, 1621-1899

Compiled by Major Joel Andrew Delano
Arranged by Mortimer Delano de Lannoy

18 — N E W - Y O R K — 99

Published in 1899, the GHAAHD is one of the most extensive genealogies of its time. While a bit cumbersome (and not without errors*), it is overall an incredible body of work, and an invaluable tool to DELANO researchers today.

One of the primary goals of The DELANO Kindred is to update and expand upon this early work; in September of 1999, The General Society of Mayflower Descendants published Philip Delano of the "Fortune" 1621 and His Descendants for Four Generations, compiled by Muriel Curtis Cushing (Delano Kindred genealogist and Florida State Historian).

( Both of these titles are available here)

* François Coek (Pilgrim Francis Cooke) appeared as a baptismal witness for immigrant ancestor Philippe (ca. 1602-1681; the progenitor of the Delano family in America), the son of Jan/Jean de Lano/de Lannoy (ca. 1570-1604) and Mary/Marie Mahieu (ca. 1580-1650). Jan's father was Gysbert Lano (ca. 1545- ); Jan's mother is unknown. Ancestry beyond this point is not proven at this time.
