GUIDELINES FOR POSTING TO DELIST PLEASE DO POST: -- Messages having to do with the history and/or genealogy of the Delano family. -- Messages regarding the Delano Kindred organization, including events and other administrativia. -- Important family news like weddings, births, illnesses and deaths. We like to support our cousins in times of joy and sorrow. PLEASE DON'T POST: -- General forwarded e-mail of any kind, whether humorous, religious, or political. These messages are off-topic for the list, and, in addition, may alienate cousins who don't share your particular view. -- Off-topic posts of any kind. It's fine to make a quick joke in the context of discussing family business, but Delist is not the place for drawn-out personal conversations between only a few list members. Some of us pay by the hour or by the kilobyte to read Delist; let's be reasonably efficient about taking private conversations to private e-mail. -- Attachments. Several list members cannot (or choose not to) access e-mail attachments, and not all attachments will be of interest to all list members. If you have an attachment you wish to share with the list, please put it up on the web or an ftp site and post the URL to the list. If you don't have access to either of the above, I'll be happy to put it online long enough for other list members to download. Contact me at postmaster@delanoye.org. -- Messages in HTML or other rich-text formats. These formats vastly increase a post's sending size and can be difficult for some list members to read. Please make sure your email client is set on "Plain Text" format before posting to the list. -- Subscribe/unsubscribe requests. Every Delist post has a signature at the bottom which includes instructions on obtaining help with the list. All list-administration requests (like subscribing or unsubscribing) should be made from the web page at http://www.delanoye.org/delist. Finally, all the above can be summarized by the following simple rule: THINK BEFORE POSTING BEFORE THINKING. Before you send a post, look it over and reconsider whether the majority of the list will be glad to read it. You can always change your mind and send your post later, but you can never take it back once it's sent.
